Richard Howard
Managing Director & Licensed Immigration Adviser
Richard Howard is one of New Zealand's most experienced immigration advisers and has been helping migrants and their families establish themselves in New Zealand since 1992.
As the founder and Managing Director of Pathways®, Richard has spent more than three decades helping people navigate one of life's most important decisions - choosing where they and their families will build their future. He is a Life Member and former Chairman of NZAMI (the New Zealand Association for Migration & Investment Inc.) and has played an active role in the development of New Zealand's immigration adviser profession through his contributions to industry, qualification and government working groups, and immigration policy discussions. Richard is widely recognised and respected as one of New Zealand's most experienced immigration professionals.
Today, Richard is primarily focused on investor immigration and New Zealand's Active Investor Plus (AIP) programme. As a member of the Minister of Immigration's Active Investor Plus Adviser Reference Group, he remains closely involved with developments affecting New Zealand's investor residence programme and the experience of international investors seeking to establish a connection with New Zealand. Richard works closely and personally with every Pathways investor client. His approach is based on the belief that immigration is not simply a legal process. It is a personal journey involving families, aspirations, opportunities and life-changing decisions. Many of the relationships formed throughout that journey continue long after residence has been obtained, often developing into lasting friendships which Richard considers one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.
Prior to establishing Pathways®, Richard worked as a financial analyst with the New Zealand Development Finance Corporation, providing him with a strong understanding of investment, finance and business structures.
Richard is married to Trisha, and they have two adult children, Penny and Tim, and six grandchildren. Family has always been central to Richard's life and is why he understands that immigration decisions are rarely made by individuals alone. They are family decisions, often spanning generations and shaped by goals that extend well beyond obtaining a visa.
When not working, Richard enjoys spending time with family, and especially being part of his grandchildren's lives, and occasionally finding time for a round of golf.
