Chapter 24 – Licensed Immigration Adviser # 421 Oct 2021

On 25 July 2008, Richard became the fourth person to be issued with their immigration adviser licence following the introduction, in May 2008, of the legislation to licence all New Zealand immigration advisers. Licencing was optional for the first year but was mandatory from May 2009 for anyone (who was not otherwise exempted) providing New Zealand immigration advice anywhere in the world.

The first four digits of Richard’s licence number, 200800071, record the year his licence was first issued.

Immigration adviser licencing is administered by the Government regulator, the Immigration Advisers Authority (IAA), and Richard is pictured receiving his licence from the then IAA Registrar, Barry Smedts.
